National Registry Emergency Medical Technician - Basic Course 135 hours
This course is offered in cooperation with the Delaware Emergency Medical Technician-Basic Training Council and meets the U.S. Department Of Transportation Emergency Medical Technician guidelines. The curriculum provides the student with in-depth knowledge and skill-based training to appropriately assess, stabilize, monitor, and transport pre-hospital patients. In addition, the student will become certified in CPR and the use of an Automatic External Defibrillator (AED). Students are required to spend time in the clinical setting with the actual time based on student progress. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age at the start of the course. Students successfully completing this course may sit for the National Registry exam. Upon presentation of required paperwork, State of Delaware EMT-B certification may be issued to individuals successfully completing class requirements. The EMT must be affiliated with a Delaware EMS provider and produce documentation of successful completion of the NREMT-B exam. A background check administered through the State Bureau of Identification (SBI) is required prior to certification.
